In-Home Maternity Photography in Maryland and Northern Virginia
In-Home Maternity Photographer in Maryland and Northern Virginia
Choosing your own home for the location of your maternity photography session is a great way to capture a relaxed and comfortable feeling in your images. In-home sessions are a great option for families who already have children, or mothers or couples who want a more intimate feel for their photos. Many expecting moms who choose an in-home session opt to go bare belly for some of their photos, and some moms may even go topless or fully nude for a few images.
Whether you decide to stay fully clothed or bare more skin is completely up to you and your comfort level.
I also offer on-location “editorial style” maternity sessions, and info about those can be found HERE.
Window Framed Maternity Silhouette Images
One of my most requested images for in-home maternity sessions is a window silhouette photo. There are a range of options; full silhouette where almost no facial features are visible, partial silhouette where some features are visible, and fully visible features.
This photo works best when the mother-to-be is partially or mostly nude, or wearing fitted clothing.
Before and After Photos
If we’re also doing newborn photos, we can plan to take a set of before and after photos.
Intimate Pregnancy Images on your Bed
For mothers-to-be who want a more intimate feel, photos on a bed may be a great option and can be taken with a partner/spouse or alone.
Maternity Photos With Older Sibling
Young children aren’t always the most cooperative for the more glam style of editorial images, and a lifestyle session may be better suited for maternity photos where young children are included. Mama may choose to go bare belly or fully clothed for these images depending on the desired results.
Shadow Play and Backyard Maternity Photographs
Another popular option for in-home maternity photos is playing with shadows from blinds and window frames. Some mamas may opt to take a few photos in their yard or patio as well.
Maternity Photographs in Front of a Fireplace
If your home has a fireplace, pregnancy photos in front of it might be a nice option for a spicier feel. Alternatively, a collection of candles may be used.
Maternity Photos With Baby’s Crib
Another popular option for in-home maternity photos is of the mother-to-be alongside baby’s new crib. This option works best when fully clothed, or with only partial belly exposure.
