Model Call – Newborn Lifestyle In-Studio Photoshoots

I’m expanding my offerings to include newborn lifestyle in-studio photshoots and am offering these sessions at reduced price for a limited time.

These model call studio sessions last between 1 and 1.5 hrs. This time includes approximately 45 minutes of photography, with the remaining time to feed, burp, and change baby as needed.

I’ll guide you through a series of poses that are meant to look candid, as well as a few more standard group poses. I’ll also capture detail images of your baby’s eyes, nose, mouth, hands, and feet.

What’s Included:

10 Fully Edited Images of Your Choice

Your session includes 10 fully edited plain-background studio photos. These images feature a dark taupe backdrop that can be slightly modified with gel lighting or post-editing.

Images with family, individually and together

In addition to photos of just baby, we’ll also take photos of baby separately with each parent, with each sibling if applicable, and together with the whole family.

Model Call What’s Included: Optional “glamorshots” of the birthing parent with baby

You did the hard work! Now celebrate with a beautiful gown or skirt and your new little one.

This portion of the session is usually 5 minutes long and results in 1-2 photos.

Model Call Bonus: 3 Background Replacements

As a bonus, your session also includes background replacements on your choice of 3 images from gallery. These 3 images will be duplicates from your original selection of 10 images, with background replacements applied.

You can select the colors and general theme for your background replacements! Popular theme options include hanging florals, floral wreaths or frames, and themes matching nurseries such as jungle, beach, etc.

  • Heirloom quality luxe matte prints start at $15 — I am a strong believer in printing your photos so you’re able to see them on a regular basis! Your images will be edited using the color profile of my professional printing lab, and I strongly encourage ordering from me so that your images match the intended edit.
  • Gown and robe rental from my client closet – Varies, $25-$75 per item
  • Additional standard studio plain background images $35 each
  • Additional creative edit images $125 each
  • Additional half hour of studio photography time $250

The Process/ What to Expect

Step 1/3:

Check out my portfolios and pricing – you will need to scroll down past the “recent photos” section. If you have questions, you may wish to check out the FAQ. Then get in touch!
The best time for a maternity session is between 27-35 weeks, aiming for weeks 30-32 if possible. For newborns, it’s best to do the session between 3-15 days of age. I encourage booking at least 4-6 weeks ahead of time to ensure availability and allow time for planning.

The booking process requires a signed session agreement with model release, as well as a retainer. Planning call times and session dates are not guaranteed until the booking process is complete.

Step 2/3:

Once I’ve received your signed session agreement and retainer, your booking will be complete and we’ll see up your planning call. You’ll also receive access to my client closet if you’d like to rent a gown.


During your planning call we’ll go over wardrobe and details about the images you’d like, and we’ll chat about hair, makeup, and accessories.

Step 3/3:

Have your Session!

During your session I’ll guide you through a series of poses to get a nice variety of image.


After your session, you’ll receive a link to your private proofing gallery to select your 12 images. Out of these 12 images, you can select the 4 images you’d like me to do the “creative edits” on.

Once I’ve completed all edits, you’ll receive a link to a new gallery with your finalized images where you can download everything at full resolution.

Studio newborn sessions are being offered on a deeply reduced model call basis with a signed model release allowing me to use your images for my portfolio, including website and instagram.

Your Session Includes:

  • 3 background replacements, selected from your initial 10 images (these will be duplicate images with background replaced)
  • Time for 1:1 and group poses with baby
  • Time for detail images
  • Time for “glamorshot” with birthing parent
  • Session for up to three people including the birthing person, a spouse/partner/so, and up to one sibling.
  • Planning call to over all the details
  • Ongoing wardrobe assistance via email

How do I book a maternity session?

To book a session, simply fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page. I’ll get back to you with a few date options, and then to secure your date and booking, you’ll need to sign a photography session agreement and pay the retainer which is equal to 50% of the session fee.

When should I book a maternity session?

I recommend having maternity sessions between 27-35 weeks of pregnancy, aiming for weeks 30-32 if possible. I also recommend booking as early as possible to get your preferred date and ensure sufficient time for planning your session.

How long is a full length maternity session?

Sessions are about 1 hr long, with about 40 minutes of photography. The remaining time may be used for outfit changes and/or hair and makeup touch-ups.

Do you offer gowns or a client closet?

I do rent gowns and dresses for sessions. I found in the past that many clients wanted to wear their own dresses. By offering dress rental as an optional add-on, I was able to lower session fees, and the rental fee covers the costs of steaming, cleaning, and transporting the dresses.
