After 5+ years of offering only outdoor and in-home sessions, I’m thrilled to launch studio maternity photo sessions!

While building my studio maternity portfolio, sessions will be offered for half price on a model call basis.

Studio Maternity Model Call Details:

• Sessions must take place in May and June 2024
• Regularly $650, model sessions are $325 with signed model release
• Sessions are available Monday – Friday, between 9:30am and 2pm
• 10 fully edited images of your choice from a proofing gallery
• 3 “magical edits” of photographer’s choice
• Time for 2-3 outfits changes –or– 1-2 outfit changes plus outdoor images (weather dependent)
• Session for up to two people including the birthing person and one additional person, typically a spouse or partner.
• Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the studio.
• All participants must sign a model release allowing for the use of images for marketing purposes
• Studio is located in Great Falls, near the intersection of Walker Rd and Georgetown Pike.
• Hair, makeup, and wardrobe are *not* provided but I do offer gown rentals for those interested

What Can I Expect At My Studio Maternity Photoshoot in Great Falls VA?

Studio Maternity Photo sessions in Great Falls VA are offered in 1 hour blocks — these blocks include approximately 40 minutes of photography, plus a few minutes before, during, and after to change or do minor hair and makeup touch-ups. Once your photography begins, I’ll guide you through poses to get a variety of images.

Currently, studio maternity sessions are offered as model calls only.

What’s Included:

Fully Edited Studio Photos

Your session includes ten fully edited standard studio photos. These images feature studio lighting and a standard backdrop.

Depending on your preference, we may use dramatic lighting, standard lighting, or colored gels, along with a fan for hair movement and any props you may wish to include.

What’s Included:

Outfit Changes -OR- Outdoor Photos

We usually have time for 2-3 outfit changes, OR 1-2 outfits and outdoor time.

The number of outfit changes is dependent on how many poses you’d like, whether your spouse/partner/SO is joining us, whether you’d like gel lighting, and how complex the outfit is (i.e. how long it takes to change outfits.)

Outdoor images are weather and natural lighting dependent.

What’s Included: Images with Spouse, Partner or Significant Other

Your spouse, partner, or significant other is welcome to join your session!

If your spouse/partner/SO is joining your session, I usually recommend 1-2 poses per outfit with them. If you’d like them in more images, just let me know!

Bonus: 3 Creative Edits

As a bonus, your session also includes three (3) creative edits of my choice. This may include overlays like light leaks, bokeh, or soft rainbows, or it may include full background replacements.

Due to the nature of the editing process, these images are fully under my creative license and do not include any revisions. I am happy to take general guidelines such as color and theme.

If you’d like more control over these images, I’m happy to create a customized package that includes more input as well as revisions!

If you want something more low key, an in-home full-length maternity photoshoot might be for you.

The Process/ What to Expect

Step 1/3:

Check out my portfolios and pricing – Maternity info can be found here and Newborn info can be found here. Detailed pricing info can be found near the bottom of both pages. If you have questions, you may wish to check out the FAQ. Then get in touch!
The best time for a maternity session is between 27-35 weeks, aiming for weeks 30-32 if possible. For newborns, it’s best to do the session between 3-15 days of age. I encourage booking at least 4-6 weeks ahead of time to ensure availability and allow time for planning.

Step 2/3:

Complete your booking by filling out the (digital) paperwork I’ll send you. Your booking is complete and date held when I receive your retainer and signed session agreement. You’ll then receive access to my client closet to start picking out a gown, and we’ll set up a time for your planning call.
During your planning call we’ll go over everyone’s wardrobe, I’ll make recommendations for your location based on the type of images you want, and we’ll chat about hair, makeup, and accessories.

Step 3/3:

Have your Session!
After your session, you’ll receive a link to your private online gallery. You’ll be able to download your images directly from the gallery. Prints and products are also available – please inquire for pricing.

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions.

How much is a maternity session?

Weekday full length maternity sessions are $650 for studio sessions and $750 for in-home sessions.

How do I book a maternity session?

To book a session, simply fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page. I’ll get back to you with a few date options, and then to secure your date and booking, you’ll need to sign a photography session agreement and pay the retainer which is equal to 50% of the session fee.

When should I book a maternity session?

I recommend having maternity sessions between 27-35 weeks of pregnancy, aiming for weeks 30-32 if possible. Peak season is April-October, and I recommend booking as early as possible to get your preferred date and ensure sufficient time for planning your session.

How long is a full length maternity session?

With two people and no outfit changes, we can get a full gallery of images with lots of variety in about 30 minutes. If you’d like to add on an outfit change, or if other people will be joining the session, it can last up to 1 hour.

Do you offer gowns or a client closet?

I do rent gowns and dresses for sessions. I found in the past that many clients wanted to wear their own dresses. By offering dress rental as an optional add-on, I was able to lower session fees, and the rental fee covers the costs of steaming, cleaning, and transporting the dresses.
